The willpower - the greatest force within you

The will is the power that helps you make decisions and makes you want more and wanting to fight for achieving your dreams.
But, wanting is not the same with doing…
You can want and dream your entire life, and all those dreams can remain there as a flask energy, tomes of un-achievements.

Most of the times we find external motivations to help us going further, we look for every sign that will help us in our way. Or we just let things die in our mental cabinets.

The Willpower is the strength to act in the pursuit of a goal. It approaches some how to Self discipline and Self control. The first thing that keeps us going in pursuing a dream is the power of the dream. When you stop dreaming, you fail!
The Willpower doesn’t come alone. It has an older brother, the Dream, also called sometimes desire, a little snob fellow. A very rebel one – the Mind, and a sort of an ugly duck, who is not really ugly by birth, but who sometimes feels so, because of the situations – the Confidence.
The dream brings the passion. The mind brings the perseverance. The confidence brings the faith.
Where does the willpower live? In your mind! How much quality do you put daily in your mind and how much garbage?

It’s not easy to enhance your willpower. You will face many roadblocks - some of them, just patterns of your mind.

   1. The first barrier is the fear. Why do you fear? In-successes from the past and the unknown. Face your fear and defeat it! Bring in the artillery of arguments…And a simple one is – “Because it has been achieved by others. If she/he could do it, why can’t I do it?” You better face your fear from the beginning because in your worst moments, it may climb on your back and suffocate you.

   2. The second barrier is indecision. Indecision can make you lose your way. Why are you hesitant? Because you haven’t completely defeated your fear and because you haven’t visualized entirely your dream. Suppress indecision! ... With again – arguments! Bring in all the pieces of the puzzle. And a first one is – Enlighten your past! You may have failed in the past. A mistake means you have tried! Try again!

   3. The third barrier is comfort. Ok, this seems like an inappropriate one, but is just perfect. When you stay for a long time in a situation you become familiar with it, you know the flaws and you know the strengths. You know how to approach it and even the mistakes have become a habit. You know it’s not perfect, but it’s easier to deal with something known, then approach the unknown. How do you defeat your comfort zone? What will make you step out? It’s clear that over time you have put a better light on the strengths of the situation in order to help you deal with the flaws. Now it’s time to change the gear. Change your thinking! Repeat to your self every day what you dislike in your current situation. It will become that unbearable that you’ll start to move in little steps just to protect yourself first, and then to fight it!

   4. The forth barrier is lack of confidence. Of course you lack confidence if you fear and if you are hesitant. And you lack confidence making the necessary actions to achieve your dream. Find you inner strength! You were born with the ability to achieve. This ability is like a latent talent – you have it, but you don’t practice it! Practice and repeat! You lost your confidence because of the past. But didn’t you learn anything from your past? Every mistake that You made was a miss in your personality. How did you avoid it in the future? By analyse and repetition of the opposite pattern. Practice and repeat every day your good skills. Every small achievement will bring a star of confidence. And don’t forget repetition creates habits!

 5. The fifth barrier is lack of time. Why don’t you have time? Because you are disorganized! Plan! Create the plan of your dream with clear terms! Plan your day, your week, your activities! Use reminders!

How do you enhance your willpower?

Practice step by step!
Make mini-plans!
Count your small successes!
Repeat! Repeat! Repeat!

The willpower needs a clear mind, a clear motivation and a lot of passion! Because the willpower is the greatest source of your achievements!

The little big dream

We all have smaller or bigger dreams..., but the way we approach them makes a difference in the final result.

Let’s give you an example- Mary lived in that apartment for 10 years. She wanted to do some painting, change the furniture- something new. But, she was postponing it for more a year – no time, no money, NO will…”I need to hire a team”…”I need to package my things”…”Get rid of the old furniture. I need to go shopping for new furniture”…”Oh, and wait for it to be delivered”…”Such a pain!”. Procrastination! Where was her motivation? Somewhere in “I need something new”. When her friend Lucy asked her to look for a new apartment, she couldn’t say no, so she found some time in her busy schedule. And this is how she found a new apartment…in a newer building, but smaller and with maybe a better view. So, she moved. Of course, she had to get rid of her older furniture- because “Unfortunately, it doesn’t fit in my new apartment.” And she bought the new one. Overall, she put her self in a 2 years debt, but she had finally that something new and a happy face. Motivation? Success or failure?

The secret of your success is simple:

    * You have to know exactly what you want (with all possible details)

(Question 1– Was Mary’s dream clear regarding her home? Not, really.)

    * You have to feel the passion of your dream – (How would the accomplishment of your dream make you feel?)

(Question 2– Did Mary imagine how she would feel after? No, she saw only the road blocks)

    * You have to believe (As long as your dream is reasonable, there nothing that can stop you. For every road block there is a defensive act)

(Question 3 – Did Mary find her defensive weapon? In a way, yes…through Lucy’s passion.)

So was Mary’s dream a success? In a way – yes – she found a solution. But, you can consider it as well a failure, because she didn’t change anything in her apartment, so her personality remained under the procrastination pattern.
Is your dream unclear? You will get unclear results! And sometimes you’ll even be satisfied with them, because it’s better something then nothing…And not only, but your lack of focus on the details of your dream can sometimes bring something better then what you have thought you wanted. But, that is just a question of luck and approach!
So, how do you approach your dreams?

Youtube House Party

 .
What do you do if you want to invite some friends over…and you don’t want to destroy the house with dancing, screams and alcohol? In the old times, before any technology was spread around people used to gather at someone’s house have dinner, and then read or sing or play some cards games. Later on, other board games were introduced, and then the revolutionary TV – that made friends gather around and watch a movie or a game. And then the video games – you can move, scream, definitely interact. But, the video games sometimes reduce the number of players and put on a side some of them…

You want something smart – that will make you interact with your friends, find out more about them and produce new discussions: Youtube House Party.
You have done many times, I’m sure…you just didn’t acknowledge you were doing it.

The process is simple. First of all you need a computer with good internet connection, and preferably a good resolution of the screen. Arrange sits around the screen, with a main sit in front. Order some pizza or whatever you want to eat…simple foods- snacks and drinks. If you want to keep it healthy – veggies, fruits and some cereal bars will be fine. Choose a team for the evening: comedy, different styles of music, beauty, advertising, short documentaries and movie trailers – more specific or more general or just go with the flow.

While your friends are there ask each of them one by one to sit on the main sit and play a video (in the theme) that they like. The thing is they always have to think what to play next and there will always be comments on the video, plus there will always be something new to discover. This is a nice comfy way to interact with your friends and get to know them better in different fields.
An even more lazy way to do this…is not even having your friends physically present…but by sharing the video on a common forum, or site or conference window and then chat online with your friends. This way you can interact only with one person, or more.
So, having fun?

I’ll let you enjoy two videos that my friends shared and I just discovered at our last Youtube House Party from the series "just go with the flow"

To vote or not to vote – that is the question

 .
Some events have been flying around lately – like the , the Arabic riots, the Japanese disasters, the royal wedding or the death of Osama Bin la Den…but, my point here is not to address any of those subjects…materials of information and even more specific details you will find all over the place in the news…

As in Canada today is election day…I want you to think about something…your right to vote and the decision of putting out there your vote or not.

I realised that these days more and more people do not use enough their right to vote.
People assume that their vote doesn’t count or that they don’t have a lot of choice.
But, voting is not only about the right that you have it’s also about responsibility.

Voting patterns
Voting is a method by which a person can express an opinion or make a decision on a certain matter.
In politics voting implies the election of a representative for the government.
Usually, our days - legal citizens of a country, older then 18 or 21 years old are allowed to vote, no matter their background, their race, origins or sex.
It wasn’t always like that.
Some time ago, still not that long, only men who were richer and in a high social position could vote.
Women, other races then the majority, or uneducated people weren’t allowed to vote.
Some of these people obtained their right to vote not further then 50 years ago. So, maybe your grand-mother wasn’t allowed to vote- just ask her for details!
Some of the voting rights were obtained through a lot of work - law suits, strikes, revolutions...

Think about that when you think that you may or not go to vote.

Maybe you think that your vote won’t make any difference. But 1+1usually = 2.
In 1876 Hayes won the elections in the United States by one vote. You still think your vote is not important? And that was just one example.
You may think that your indifference to elections will be shown in the percentage of people who vote. Ya, that may be true - but in some or in most countries if the percentage is too low a new election will be held. Certainly you have more time to analyse your options, but... in the same time - think that a new election is usually as or even more expensive then the first one. With what money? Figure this out by yourself!

You also may think that those who are in power will manipulate the votes on their own will. Which is pretty much true in a non-democratic country or a coercive government. BUT, as long as there is also somebody else out there that vote the same thing as you did - you can get in touch with that person and make public your point.
We live in an era of high technology where news travels faster and faster. Plus, your discontent can be easily get public through different tools of social media- twitter, facebook, hi5, myspace, blogs, forums, or mobiles. etc.
You can easily become part of those that make history.
So, ya - your vote counts- your opinion counts! And, a good example of this is the impact of social media in the Moldavian Revolution, also known as Moldavian Twitter revolution – or the start of Arabic riots.
The point I’m trying to make here is that indifference does not count! Ignorance has denied people’s right to vote. Indifference has made people be crushed by different political systems. We all have the gift of free will: we can be quiet or we can express our opinion. Expressing something is not usually easy.

You can go to vote- and your vote may not count - but still you are expressing your opinion. If you still think the vote didn’t express your view you can go further with the process. It’s all about choices and actions.

Don’t be indifferent to a thing that was achieved so hardly!
