Heartbreak Lullaby to my Angel

.
I cry inside my shell
And no one knows the fears and pains
The pearls of my eyes are falling in silence
Covered by rain
My Angel gets wind of my keen
He caresses my suffering under the moon protection
Hugging me as a night shadow
Careful, slippery not to wake the others
And all I hear it`s a promise of patience
For a world I ignore
My stomach growls and I shiver anemic
I wanna die, but the Reaper is deaf and blind
I hang in my Angel`s arms
He hugs me in mourning
A life of waiting, of waiting his love
An antagonic display of catharsis
A lie to bandage my blight
And I cry louder and louder in silence
Only with him holding me tight
And he knows that I know
There is an end to this dreamy delight
An end and no coming back
He bundles me in the sheets
So I can`t reach his bleeding eyes
“Behave, my Twin Flame,
He will take good care of you in this life while I`m gone!
Make a safe trip home when it`s time”

Make your life what you want it to be

.
You don’t know where your life stands. You don’t know what to do to fill that gap in your soul.
You seem to be doing all the right things, but yet you still feel unfulfilled. What’s wrong?
Are you feeling you aren’t getting what you want out of life?
Have you ever thought that your thoughts are sabotaging your happiness?
Our thoughts work together with our subconscious mind to create our own reality. If we type in a data that is wrong – the brain will still receive it, it will over-load our memory. The internal dialogue that one may have is the data that we input to our subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind’s job is to make our thoughts materialize. So, if you put in information that is negative – what do you think the thought decision will be? – Of course, negative.
Example: You say: “My colleague is better than me at work.”
Your decision thought will be: “I won’t even ask my boss for a promotion or boast my accomplishments, even if I work hard.”
Situation: Maybe your colleague is less or as good as you, but he brags about his achievements around the office and asks the boss for a promotion. He will get it.
Real example: I was working in a company and they transferred me to a different department – so, I started to work as an Assistant. The person that was Senior after a wile left. I took over the responsibilities, but I didn’t bother to ask if they needed someone for that position. They hired someone that I had to train from zero and I was still called an Assistant and he was called a Senior (plus the salary difference). When I left the department I babbled that they didn’t offer me that position, but the Director simply said to me “You never asked”.
Have you ever wondered why successful people keep getting successful? Do you think they have a special magical formula?
The only formula for success stays in your thoughts. And that’s the only formula that successful people use.
Do you think successful people they never got rejected? By being rejected and still insist people got where they wanted to be. (see post “Famous people and their big failure” for examples).
Failure is a necessity for improvement. All great successes were once great failures. You just need to insist. And if you do not get there – make the necessary adjustments. All you need is to be critical, plan properly and take action. And your life can be whatever you want it to be!

The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.” by Vince Lambardi

Famous people and their big failure

.
Success is not build only on luck and hard work..., but also on the many situations when people tried and failed to be the best. They are great figures, but before that they failed big time. The shame is not when one has failed, but when they do nothing to overtake their decline.

Abraham Lincoln
, had studied formally just 5 years. When he grew up, he joined politics and was rejected 12 times before he was elected the 16th President of the United States of America.

Harry S. Truman - former USA President was rejected by the US Military and Naval Academies due to his poor eyesight. He worked in the same time as a clerk in a newspaper mail-room, and also an usher in a movie theater.

John F. Kennedy, former USA President, failed his candidacy as a president of his class at Harvard. He didn’t win a post on the student council and dropped out of Stanford Business School.

Wiston Churchill the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during the Second World War, failed the 6th grade.

Thomas Edison failed hundreds of times as he was testing the filaments for his light bulb. While in school teachers considered him slow and unable to learn. And he got fired from a job because his experiment exploded.

I have not failed seven hundred times. I have not failed once. I have succeeded in proving that those seven hundred ways will not work. When I have eliminated the ways that will not work, I will find the way that will work.”

Albert Einstein the theoretical physicist that was awarded the 1921 Nobel Prize for Physics, when he was a child he was considered retarded by his parents and teachers. Teachers asked several time his parents to withdraw him from school.

Soichiro Honda was turned down at a job interview by Toyota Motor Corporation. He went jobless for some time until people started buying his homemade scooters.

Akio Morita, founder of giant electric products, Sony Corporation first products came out pretty bad and he had to recall them and felt into big debts.

Fred Smith received a bad grade on a project at Yale University for a business plan for reliable overnight delivery service. He later founded Federal Express based on the same idea.

Henry Ford before becoming famous with his automobile company had two big bankruptcies in the same industry.

Bill Gates, founder and chairman of Microsoft, dropout from Harvard University and started a small software company. Yes, the later Microsoft.

Leonardo da Vinci, who was a multi-talented personality expert in 36 professions, was an illegitimate son, pushed from a house to another and learned most of his skills later in life by himself.

Walt Disney started his business in his garage- and his first production was a big failure and he went bankrupt. He was also fired from a job because of his lack of imagination. A come back? His average revenue now is around $30 billion annually.

Steven Spielberg the famous producer, dropped from High school twice and because of that he could never be admitted to UCLA film faculty.

Woody Allen, academy Award-winning writer, producer and director failed motion picture production in University and was doing poorly in English.

Sylvester Stallone was thrown out of 14 schools in 11years. He was told he could never act and his screenplay for Rocky was rejected by numerous companies.

Jim Carrey before becoming the famous entertainer had a hard time also. He moved from a school to another spending 3 years in the same grade. He performed in Toronto in different locations for free, just to get people to know him. When he moved to Los Angeles he was rejected many times and performed in poorly rated films.

Michael Jordon, the NBA superstar. He was cut off from the high-school basketball team because of his lack of skills.

J. K. Rowling, the writer of Harry Potter lived on welfare in an unheated apartment infested with mice. She was also depressive. She got out of all that misery in 5 years by selling 400 million copies of her books (around $798 million).

Rudyard Kipling, winner of the 1907 Nobel Prize for Literature was rejected by an editor because of his bad use of English language.

Jules Verne the famous fantastic visionary writer was discouraged by his family to write. He burned his first script.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the child prodigy of classical music lived most of his life in poverty and just entertaining aristocracy.

I pay no attention whatever to anybody's praise or blame. I simply follow my own feelings.”

Ludwig van Beethoven, the German composer of classical music, one of history’s greatest composers was considered by his music teacher hopeless. During his career, he lost his hearing. Ironically, he still composed music.

The Beatles were rejected in 1962 by the Decca, Pey, Philips, Columbia and HMV.

Elvis Presley the famous singer had poor grades in music during his schooling years.

Luciano Pavarotti, the famous tenor could not read music.

Examples may continue...

The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today.” Franklin D. Roosevelt

Unhealthy vs healthy

.
I was just getting to my pile of e-mails these days and I found out a message that seemed quite interesting and related to my previous posts – on the stress/ depression effects on the health in general.
And before that I just remembered two concrete examples of what high stress may cause.
The first one – I think you all remember the case of the young woman – that died because of stress at work. Her case was largely mediated. The other case –I know the person personally. This person, a young fellow, due to some family problems – and his un-limited over-thinking of a situation with no concrete answer – he got into a deep health problem that it is an issue from now on in his life. He found him self with a hemorrhagic and thrombotic disorders at his feet – he got an urgent surgery, but this didn’t completely solve the problem, but was just a temporary remedy. Do you imagine how it is to find yourself one day just not able to walk and experiencing an impossible pain? And all this because of what? Because you over-think a situation…
The depressions and the stress increase the level of cortisol, also named the hormone of stress. High and prolonged levels of cortisol in the bloodstream have negative effects, such as: Impaired cognitive performance, Decreased bone density, Decrease in muscle tissue, Higher blood pressure, Increase fat, memory lose.
The brain gets tired after a stressful period and it produces different signals: insomnia, heart pains, dizziness, benumbed arms or feet, anxiety, headaches, suffocation.

There are some basic things that one may do to reduce the level of cortisol in the body:
(I’m repeating my self – but this part is very important)
  • Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night
  • Walk for at least 20 minutes every day.
  • Eat appropriate food.
And for this one I have some good proposals that will help improve your memory.
Try Ginkgo biloba; tea (green); shells (they contain Zinc and iron); cereals (for fibers and B vitamins); eggs (for B vitamins and lecithin); milk products; curry (antioxidants); forest fruits such as blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, black currants( antioxidants and vitamins); nuts and seeds (for vitamins and the fatty acids omega 3 or 6); veggies and fruits (for all types of vitamins, the B-s, the iron, magnesium and zinc) – at least 5 servings per day; fish (fatty acids omega, phosphor, magnesium, selenium), chocolate (for flavonol). Ok, for this last one I was a little skeptical, but I`ve red some more articles and… they are right. A small piece of chocolate as a square – with more then 80% cocoa busts your energy. But, don`t fall under addiction.

Keep up the good work for a healthy life style!

What do you do when your boss is away?

.
I was reading this article the other day about this subject and I was wondering how true it is…
Do people tend to slink from work when their boss is away?
I would say they are two different points here:
1. It depends on the boss
2. It depends on the employee
A thief of work time would do that even when the boss is in and doesn`t see him or her.
And what do people do? They chat or surf the internet, they take longer breaks, they play computer games, they blog or communicate on forums, they chat on the phone, read magazines, they come in late or leave early.I have seen companies that have very strong regulations and companies that have more liberty.
There are companies that do not have internet access at all due to security issues, and companies that have restricted access, and companies that have it all, including areas for fun.
I’ve seen one interested last year with restricted access. Due to the type of business that they were doing most administrative departments needed internet access – so it was like that – no chatting except the one authorized by the company ( you still could add your personal friends in there), no access to any personal e-mail like Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, no access to send e-mails from the company e-mail outside the company, unless you added the person in the company address book and someone from IT authorized the entry, no access to YouTube, blogs, social sites or online games or other things like that. Guess what? Break time! You had access to your favorite sites from 12.30 to 13.30 and after 5.00 when normally the program was ending.
There was a favored department that had access to YouTube, blogs and social site all day long (lucky them – you would say), hm, but they got work to do – Communication and Marketing.
The things that some employees miss to understand is that playing online games or watching videos, slows down the server – and some of your colleagues may have troubles working.

I don`t like very strict companies. I worked once in a company – where I felt I was in a jail and all my friends laughed at me saying I work for very secret projects. No, not at all, far from that – there was no internet access, no cell phone network – you had to punch in and out even if you went to the washroom. And every department was closed like that. At a certain point I had access to see if they really counted these things, and they did. You could see one person itinerary in the company, in which department he/ she was, when he/ she was in the cafeteria, in the smoking area or at the washroom. The policies or very strict saying that one should come in 15 minutes earlier to allow time to settle for work, have a 15 minutes break at 10-10.30 another around 3-3.30 and the one hour lunch break between 12.00 to 14.00. If someone got over this one hour and a half allowed break with more then 15 minutes per day that would be cut off from the working hours. If for personal reasons one had to break this rules – he/ she had to speak with the manager that had to write a note to the department in charge for this tracking. Plus every manager had to write a report every month about a different tracking - that was installed on the computer – and counted when the system was opened and time really worked.
What happened when the boss was out? The fact is that the first manager, I worked with, he also disagreed with all these strict polices, so I was lucky – when the Director was out – we were having parties in the office – we were buying jus and cakes and play on the system between us, so it didn`t log off. He caught us once, ha- ha, and the manager said it`s someone’s birthday and we all sang “Happy birthday” out of the blue to the lucky guy.

The idea that I`m trying to raise here – is not who is doing what when the boss is away, but do coercive regulations increase productivity?

The company that I told you about was not very productive, because the high management tended to invest in things like tracking hours, instead of making happy its employees.

I got this answer once: “What does the company care how I organize my time at work 8 hours a day, as long as I am doing my job. I`m allowed to eat, drink and relax, that will make me more productive. If I`m stressed out – I`ll do a poor job and I won`t neither care about what`s happening. When I`m doing a poor job and they did everything for me – there is a problem there.”

So, it`s the boss fault when employees play computer games all day long when he is out of the office?

Note: This was written one morning when my boss was away and I was all alone in the company. I hope he doesn`t mind – I still prepared those three business proposals I was in charge of. Sssttt! All my other colleagues came in at 10, instead of 9, and I was there at 8.30 – poor me.

Because…I am a woman

I am rich because I have friends! And between those friends I have some special friends – I call them my girl-friends, no matter their age.

No matter how surrounded we are by men, how much we need them to complete our being…there is something that we share between us - women.

We meet to talk about clothes, make-up or perfumes, about broken hearts or children, engagement, retirement. We share our joy and sorrow.

You wouldn`t even exist without the one that have given you birth. And what would you do without the sister, the mother, the friend, the grand-mother, the stranger that looks in your eyes and acknowledge the same feeling as you?

There is always some envy that boils inside every woman.

There is one that’s more beautiful, one that has a better job, one that has a better house, one that has a more carrying husband, one that has a smarter child.

But, don’t forget my dear friend that there is a balance in all this. The one that’s more beautiful maybe is not as lucky as you are, the one that has a better job- maybe doesn’t have any child or husband, the one that has a better house, maybe it’s not that healthy, the one that’s smarter maybe it’s not as loved as she would want to be.

Be happy, woman! Because you are a fighter for beauty, for innovation, for all type of human rights, for peace, for health and for all types of love.

Do you need examples: think of all the women artists, think of the Misses, think of the Scientist women, think of those in politics or war, think of the doctors and the carrying mothers, girlfriends and wives, sisters or loving daughters.

Maybe you are not yet a celebrity in a field, but you don’t need all that to be called a woman.

Be proud to be a woman because you are a fighter.

When you are born they should not turn their heads because you are a girl, but they should praise the Nature because another shackle that can carry the seeds of a child has emerged. Your gender is a flower that blossoms and they should love, cherish and protect you because you are delicate. They should not close you in a cage because you are not a wild animal, but a being able to learn, to analyze and speak up a valuable opinion.

You should have a choice in life because by our Nature we were brought to life with reasoning. And never forget that your purpose in this world is not just to carry children, but to embellish our world by your presence.

You may be treated, or be seen differently depending on your culture, but this is just because the society has inlay in its customs slavery views. But, you can change that. And you don’t need a war for that- you need to be unite and bring strong arguments.

You never gave up when they slandered you, you never gave up when they hit you, and you never gave up when they stopped loving you! You carried your disappointment with you for centuries!

Because you are a strong woman!

Be proud to be a woman.

Are you Unique?

.
In my previous session of Self-Improvement I identified you as “the One”. You, as a distinct individual, part of our Human race.

But, one can be similar to another. And only by the fact that we are part of the same Human class we must have some similar traits.

1. We all have a consciousness
2. Physically we may have some characteristics in common, genetically inherited
3. We have some attitudes, attributes, social endowments, and skills that are commons to humans, in a positive or negative way; and in different combinations

No, let’s touch this with some more details.

2. Have you heard of DNA?
DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the hereditary material used in the development and functioning of all living beings. The genotype is the specific genetic trait of an individual. Not all organisms with the same inherited genotype look or act the same way because environmental and developmental conditions can modify the structure. The combination of genes can influence the characteristic of an organism, or the phenotype.

3. Fallowing the Maslow Theory we have in common some other characteristics, or more exactly needs:
Physiological Needs: air, water, food, sleep
Safety Needs: we all need to feel secure- to have a job or a place to live in, to be healthy
Social Needs: we all need to be part of a group, of a community, to give and receive love
Esteem Needs: we all need recognition, attention, accomplishment and self-respect
Self-Actualization: the need for truth, justice and wisdom

Yes, but even if we all have these needs we manifest them differently. Some may want more food, some more love, and some more wisdom.
In our own persona it’s a lot of chemistry. The combination in each of us is unique.
So, in conclusion: We are built the same, but we are different. Aside from DNA, there is another aspect of the human body unique to every individual: the fingerprint.
It’s absolutely impossible that in this world exists another person completely identical to you – with the same combination. Not even twins are completely identical. And if it would be to have a human clone- a copy of your genotype code- guess what? He would have to live the same experiences as you did, in the same time with the contact – to be exactly as you are.

No one ever had the same combination of abilities, acquaintances, joys and sorrows or opportunities as You do. Even if you try to copy somebody else you’ll never be a perfect copy. So, just Be You!

Is this scary to be Unique? Do you feel all of the sudden awkward because you are different? Do you have the feeling of not fitting? Are you scared of others because they are different from you?

Don’t forget what I mentioned above- We do have common traits. So, you can work on that part to integrate with other humans. Build your passions!

You are part of a system, you are part of Nature. You are one unique piece in a puzzle, and without You the humankind image is incomplete. Leaving aside your personal purpose in life, think that Nature has brought You here to accomplish her own purpose- of being.

Treasure your uniqueness. Enjoy it and share it!

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.” Dr. Seuss

Your presence is a gift to the world

.
Do you know how babies are born?
Yes, probably if you are over 14 you should know all the biological process. Did you know that birth is sometimes referred as miracle? Do you have any idea why?
The answer is more than simple…because even if the anatomical process is largely explained there is a part that is beyond our scientific knowledge. So, if the Nature has called its unbounded power to create something as magnificent as life, why would you try to call it otherwise your presence in this world?

In what circumstances were you born?
Are you born in a poor family? Are you born as result of a rape? Are you coming from a broken family? Or none of these applies to you?
It doesn`t matter in what circumstances you were conceived or born the Nature has decided that you should be alive. It's not about being born and dying, it's about...existing! You just have to find out what it is in the middle – between birth and death.
Is there any reason behind this?
Of course, it is! You are the ONE! The One that has the chance to breath, to acknowledge the life and enjoy the beauty or ugliness of our known world.
You have the chance to Experience and to Express yourself into this world. You have a consciousness, an unique and precious gift that allows you to un-limit your thoughts.
You are a gift to this world because the Nature elected You to be a member of its class. One – that has the right to vote. And in what consist his voting?
2. You can express your thoughts
3. You can enjoy the beauty of the world
4. You can choose your own purpose in life
5. You can change the world
6. You can pro-create, so that the Humanity lives on

Why did I refer to these lines as voting? Because most important of all 1. YOU- have the right to choose.
And by this act the Nature has offered You the greatest power.
Do you realize that you are like a King into this world? Do you realize that your actions have a great impact in how this world continues to live?
I know, you`ll say that “I`m just a nobody! I don`t have the power to change anything!”
You couldn`t be more wrong! By the fact that You are ALIVE, you think and breath – the Nature has given you the chance to make a choice for this world.
And start by making a choice for yourself!
Say it out loud and repeat it to yourself every day: “My presence is a gift into this world! I bless this day because I am alive and because I have the power to make choices.”

What will you choose? That comes to reasoning…and we`ll discuss it later on!
